Regeneration Works
At B-Alternative, we are committed to making regeneration the norm through practical, community-driven services. Using our hybrid electric truck, we collect and repurpose valuable waste streams—diverting both organic and inorganic materials from landfill to build a stronger circular economy.

Collection

Using a hybrid truck, B-Alternative collects used oyster, mussel, and scallop shells from restaurants, venues, and seafood wholesalers across Melbourne, Greater Geelong, the Bellarine, and Surf Coast regions.
Curing

These shells are transported to a designated curing site, where they are laid out and left in the elements for at least six months to eliminate any potential pathogens or contaminants.
Reef Regeneration

This initiative plays a critical role in supporting The Nature Conservancy’s shellfish reef restoration projects — helping rebuild Australia’s endangered native shellfish reefs and improve biodiversity.
